The Defenestration Of Prague
This shows how angry
the Protestants were
at the Archbishop

When the Archbishop of Bohemia ordered a protestant church destroyed, in revolt, the protestants threw two of his officials out of a window and into piles of cow dung. After the first defenstration there was a second one, this time no dung to save the officials from the 80 foot drop. In the Peace of Augsburg, German princes were able to choose their region’s religion. Unfortunately only Lutheranism and Catholicism were recognized in the treaty and many other Protestant religions wanted recognition. Even though the Protestants and the Catholics had never liked each other, I feel there is a good chance that the Defenestration of Prague is what set off the Holy Roman Emperor and made him take action against the Protestant religions inhabiting Europe.
